Should I get a kitten or a puppy?

I have 3 cats - one of them is 16. I am wanting to get a new pet - either a kitten or a puppy. My parents say that when I move out I will take it with me (atm I am 13). I will not have a big backyard but I will be able to take a dog for walks if I get one. I suppose a kitten would probably be more convenient but ever since I was little I've fantasised over having a puppy! I would get a small sort of one that was more docile and less... barky. However I realised that what I really want is a cat that I can take for walks and bathe and teach tricks but will behave like a cat inside... I'm not sure what to get. I have to take into consideration my 3 cats but although a kitten would be nice... I couldn't take it for a walk or outside to play! So any advice?
