Do you think we'd be able to offer a rescue dog a good home?

I don't see a reason why you wouldn't be good for rehoming the rescue other then the other dog and your mom. Do what the guy above me said and maybe if your mom sees the dog herself she could change her mind. Parents are very hard to convince though.
